Suicide is the second leading cause of death for children ages 10 through 19 in the United States.1 Children who died by suicide accounted for 20% of all fatal injuries to Michigan children ages 0 to 18 years old.2 Everyone can play a role in preventing suicide by implementing strategies to decrease the stigma associated with suicide and make the conversation safer.
